Heather
Hammonds was born in Sydney,
Australia. She is the author of more than two hundred books for
children and adults, both in educational and trade markets..
Heather began writing at a very early age and had several short stories
published. Her first children's book, Bargains from Outer Space, was
published by Thomson Learning in 1998. This was soon followed by
Thunderbox and Monkey business. She has written more than sixty books
in the highly successful series of children's educational books, Nelson
Focus, and has a large number of fiction and non-fiction titles in the
PM and PM+
series of readers for children, as well as new series such as PM

Heather worked as a veterinary nurse for
many years before becoming a full-time writer. She also works as a
freelance editor of both children's and adult books, writes advertising
copy, runs workshops and does voiceover work. She is a member of
the Australian Society of Authors and the Victorian Writers' Centre.
Heather lives in Seaford, a bayside
suburb in Victoria, Australia. Outside of her writing and other work
her passion in life is her German Shepherd Dogs, who she would not be
without..
